3.4.2 update is now available via Firefox add-on updates.
Bug Fixes:
- Filters can now be saved properly.
This update also includes:
- Search buttons have been added to the Settings->Filters screen. You can search Auctions or Buy It Now items based on the filters you have entered. This feature uses the keywords, channel, categories and prices to configure a search and displays the results on the eBay site. You can use this feature to check items that may have been listed while you were not running BINSniper.
- The eBay logos have been removed from each item list line to save some screen space.
Outstanding issues:
“Display auctions ending in X minutes” setting is not functioning as desired. This option has been adjusted to allow settings up to 99 minutes, but setting a higher value causes more auctions to be filtered out. This will be corrected in the next release. Use a low value in the meantime. 2-4 minutes is recommended.
Hello,
I was the one who left the “review” on the Mozilla add-on page. I had no other known means of getting your attention. I will delete it if this comment posts.
BINSniper hasn’t been updated or commented on in a good while and there are some issues which have been bothering me, and a number of features that I think would improve the add-on, and certainly would go very far in improving my personal user experience.
Bugs (features?):
Clicking the BINSniper tray icon causes the BINSniper frames to close. This makes sense when left-clicking it, but is highly annoying when it does this after selecting something from the right-click menu.
Concerned there may be some bad memory leaks. BINSniper seems to cause my browser’s memory usage to balloon over time causing the browser to eventually become very slow and unstable, to the point I need to open the task manager to kill the browser process. I have no way of pinpointing the exact problem that I’m aware of. I don’t use many other addons and most of the ones I do use are not particularly heavy (Adblock Plus and NoScript being the heaviest). It takes much longer to reach this level of poor browser performance otherwise.
I DID however just clean out my Waterfox (unofficial 64-bit Firefox fork) profile and that has helped a lot in general but I haven’t tested BINSniper 3.4.2 extensively with it exclusively.
Options I would like to see:
1) Allow users to go straight to the eBay listing rather than the BINSniper interim page when clicking a hit.
2) Allow users to set custom sounds for each search, independent of the global sound. Audio cues to inform me of what kind of hit there is when I’m away from the keyboard would be very useful in determining importance.
3) Allow users to set names for the panels in Streamer mode, which would override the search names being shown.
4) Allow users to sort the Filters list
5) Re-enable the old (2.X?) behavior of old finds remaining on the hit panels, until the timing threshold trims them. It gives me assurance that things are working correctly, and helps me see things I glanced over before. I don’t like re-opening my browser or editing my search filters and coming back to BINSniper panels being blank.
eBay search limit work-around: Set a static, user-defined search string. Then have a custom list of string variables of which BINSniper would excute a loop concatenating the static string and the variable strings in individual searches.
Maybe some of these things already exist and I’ve overlooked or misunderstood them.

BINSniper is a mature product. As such it is updated as needed, not on a regular cycle.
Clicking the BINSniper tray icon causes the BINSniper frames to close. This makes sense when left-clicking it, but is highly annoying when it does this after selecting something from the right-click menu.
This is the case when changing view modes (Sidebar/Streamer). The program will auto-open the lists when items are received. Views are also hidden when it makes sense, such as when you pause the feeds or switch to email mode. If there’s a specific sequence you want to discuss, please clarify.

We have no other reports of memory issues except those that have been resolved by using standard Firefox or creating a new Firefox profile. Alternate browser spins are not supported. We do have some users successfully using Pale Moon. For odd behaviors, a new profile or refresh/reset to defaults is recommended.
Allow users to go straight to the eBay listing rather than the BINSniper interim page when clicking a hit.
This option is already supported on the Setting tab. Please verify you are using 3.4.2

This option is already supported in the filters config screen.

Search panels are cleared when changing filters to prevent false alerts. Since panels support multiple filters and filters can be moved between panels, it complicates keeping an item history in place when changes are made. While it may affect you if you are constantly changing filters, I’m not sure this adds sufficient value for the majority of cases. In any case, this would increase client loads, which 3.x was redesigned to reduce. This would require some redesign to many aspects of the system, so is not likely to happen quickly, but I’ll add it to the wish list.
eBay search limit work-around: Set a static, user-defined search string. Then have a custom list of string variables of which BINSniper would execute a loop concatenating the static string and the variable strings in individual searches.
If you are referring to the boolean OR limit, this can be worked around using multiple filters as explained in the docs.
Thanks for the feedback.
I try and it works, i think this solution is better than nothing 🙂
thx
sorry that i posted only bugs 🙁
the auction time setting can now set till 99 minutes, thx for this.
but it works only at 8 minutes and lower.
OK, we’ve located the issue. There is a system design problem that is causing this with auctions. This carries over from the old system before eBay introduced delays and the system had to be redesigned. The system basically ignores your setting when retrieving items, bringing in a fixed number of auctions. The higher you set the end time setting, the more of those get filtered out, eventually everything is filtered out.
Use a lower setting for now. We will address this issue in the next release.
WOW, is start my Mozilla this Morning and wow Binsniper shows me many Items in the Auction-Windows, the oldest Auction has 32 Hours Lifetime 🙂
This is exactly what i need, so many thx to YOU…….
more Questions for you 🙂 :
1. in which cases Binsniper clear the Windows?
2. what is the exact Auctionendingtime Binsniper shows on the first Start?
3. what settings send the new “search Auctions” Button to ebay? I see the Pricerange is send.
The “Display auctions ending in X minutes” is current hardcoded at 4 minutes. We removed the hard ten minute upper limit on the backend. So for now, you get 4m00s-forever, excluding filtered items.
3.4.3 will use the “Display auctions ending in X minutes” option to retrieve items. So after 3.4.3 you will get Xm00s-forever. You should set this setting to however long you need to review and bid on items. The purpose of this settings to to remove auctions that you don’t have time to bid on from the screen. 1-2 minutes is a good setting.
1) BINSniper clears the windows when filters are changed. Individual auction items are removed when they pass the Xminutes remaining limit. Items are also removed when viewed if that option is checked.
2) Auction times should range from 1m-10 days now, up to 100 items.
3) This feature uses keywords, categories and price range. eBay changes their URL structure quite a bit. We may add more filter settings, but changes at eBay are likely to break the search feature if more parameters are supported. We welcome feedback on this issue.
Also, try the the new search buttons on the Setttings->Filters page to pick up the items you may have missed when BINSniper wasn’t running.
